Magnetic Fields Distortion

Have you ever liked a band so much that you engulf their entire library to the point where you don’t even have to listen to it anymore to hear it? I’ve done that with The Magnetic Fields amongst a few other bands. Today’s the day that after 4 long years and numerous side projects, soundtracks and whatever that Stephen Merritt blesses the world with a new Magnetic Fields album.

Like the last few Magnetic Fields releases, the album title is a good indication of what to expect. And Distortion deliver’s just that. Unlike I or 69 Love Songs which had heavy helpings of acoustic balladry, Distortion takes The Magnetic Fields travels back to the familiar territory of electro-tinged 60s pop that made Holiday my favorite album of theirs. And like the title suggests everything is blanketed in a thick warm fuzz of distortion, enough to make The Jesus & Mary Chain proud.
