Devo Has the Best/Stupidest Merchandise.

You may remembering Devo re-recording their song Whip It as “Swiff It” for a Swiffer commercial. Now they’ve made “Brush It” for a toothbrush that plays music inside your head. This opens up a Pandora’s box of what will be next. Musical tampons and toilet paper dispensers? You can’t parody Devo because they beat you to it every time.

Will this product reduce the need to wear Energy Domes (the red flower pots)?

In this case you can parody Devo b/c there’s already a KISS, SMASH MOUTH, QUEEN, STAR WARS, DESTINY’S CHILD, BLACK EYED PEAS, VILLAGE PEOPLE, MILEY CYRUS AS HANNAH MONTANA, KELLY CLARKSON, and HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL version.

i thought Devo was into mocking industrial culture and pop consumerism. Maybe Mark Mothersbaugh alter-ego “Booji Boy” needed whiter teeth?

Mark Mothersbaugh said “We are always looking for newer, cooler ways to deliver our music to our fans. Teaming up with Tiger Electronics to record a new version of ‘Whip It’ for TOOTHTUNES was a blast. Not only do our fans get to experience one of our most popular songs in a wildly innovative format but it will also introduce our music to a new, younger group of listeners.”

Only TOOTHTUNES toothbrushes feature patented Denta-Mandibular Sound Transmission technology which transmits songs and music vibrations from the bristles, through the teeth, to the inner ear. Users hear two minutes of the hottest music from some of today’s biggest stars which keeps them brushing.

i have to admit to being thoroughly intrigued by the “Music In Your Mouth! Improved Sound Technology!” slogans on the box, but i think i’ll wait for Danny Elfman to issue an Oingo Boingo version.

What if music sounds better when it’s in your mouth and this is the new direction for headphones?
