Digging For Fire Vol. 16: Mussolini Headkick – Themes For a Violent Retribution

Themes For a Violent Retribution

How’s that for an attention grabbing cover? 80′s era Industrial always has some of the best and provoking covers ever made! Belgium’s Mussolini Headkick had their breif moment in the sun in the late 80s before Industrial/EBM became the official  (and awful) soundtrack of any & every BD/S&M masquerade ball. As the cover would suggest Mussolini Headkick kept things pretty political, focusing strongly on an anti-fascist message chanted over some pretty hard hitting and dance beats. If a coup de tat had to have a soundtrack, this would be it!

While they never got as popular as similiar sounding Nitzer Ebb and KMFDM, I always felt that 1989 Themes For a Violent Retribution is an EBM classic. Sadly the entire Mussolini Headkick catalog has been out of print for some time and their name has steadily dropped out of any discussion over great Industrial bands. Mussolini Headkick is actually a great place to start for an Industrial novice if you were ever curios about what Industrial and EBM before the scene sadly (de)evolved into heavily distorted vocals and Vampire the Masquerade of late. The hard pounding beats on Themes For a Violent Retribution will make it hard for even the most jaded of sceptics to not start knodding their heads to the rythym. Dowlnload it and go start a revolution!
