From Hancock to Old Boy
Rumors have been going around the internet that Steven Spielberg and Will Smith are going to be remaking Chan-Wook Park’s Classic Old Boy. This Film School Rejects article clears it up a bit, saying Spielberg will be adapting the story from the graphic novel, rather than the film. A lot of the Old Boy fans are against the Spielberg/Smith project but I really don’t care either way. It would be interesting to see where they take it, but personally I must say I find Spielberg’s work is pretty whack and would expect this to suck.
I’m sure most of you who subscribe to the Bloglin are more than aware of Chan-Wook Park’s films. If not, check out the fight scene above and then go rent Old Boy! While I was in London I caught another of Park’s films on TV, I’m a Cyborg, But that’s OK, which was really odd and i was unaware Park had even directed until earlier today..
When is Hollywood going to bring him over to be the next John Woo? Maybe Team him up with The Rock?!

Not even Scorsese could better the first volume of the trilogy, Infernal Affairs and that story line was his bread and butter. WTF does Spielberg think he’s going to do with a story that swaps aliens and adventure for incest and vengeance? Abort.
