Top 10 Ebay Purchases of 2008!

ebay_bloglin_banner

I am an eBay junkie, and it’s a buyers market, so I have been very busy this year.

In no particular order, here is my top 10 eBay purchases of 2008! All titles have been left  (SIC) as they were originally posted on eBay. Don’t even ask how I found some of this stuff, I just do random searches and I get lucky. A few were found from some of my weekly eBay searches. You may be able to figure out a couple of them from the titles of the auctions!

1) VINTAGE YUK-MAN GOO SLIME DEVIL MAN HEAD MONSTER & BOX

yukman

Ok, screw it. This is my #1 purchase on eBay this year.  Super rare bizarre slime toy from the 80s. I guess his head was filled with slime (at this point all the slime has evaporated) and the basic idea was that you took the slime out and then dropped it on his head. Totally pointless. I love it!

2) VINTAGE RARE 1988 GIGGLEE EYES MONSTER PLUSH TOY DOLL

google_eye_dude

I was floored when I got this is the mail. It’s some weird 80s My Pet Monster style doll. No one in the office remembers this at all. But it’s super rad and the eyes are giggley!

3) VINTAGE MADBALLS RATTLE MONSTER PLASTIC ARGENTINA RARE

bootleg_killer_tomatoe

I got obsessed with looking up Mad Balls on eBay this year, especially bootleg ones. This is a weird toxic plastic rattler is a mixture of a Mad Ball and Killer Tomato, which I have realized this year is sort of kind of like a Mad Ball.

4) Vintage Halloween Face Mask Monster Ghoul Rubber Latex

ugly_face_man_I had_that!

I had one of these guys in college. I found it at a flea market and thought that it was the most bizarre toy that I have ever seen! The face is one of those weird rubber finger puppet faces that you could put your fingers in the back and move the face around ( I know you had one as a kid, I think we all did!) but this has these little mechanical arms that move the face around, while it moves back and forth, and plays a midi version of “When The Saints Go Marching In”. Yes, this is the most bizarre toy I have ever seen! I actually never owned this toy with the box. Now I do!

5) THE MUMMY?S CURSE Vintage Glow in Dark Toy MOC

the_mummys_curse

This toy is actually pretty stupid, but the packaging is rad! I also love the fact that it’s the Mummy’s Curse that you are playing with and not necessarily the mummy itself. How conceptual!

6) RELIC GERMAN DEATH HEAD SILVER RING FROM STALINGRAD!!!

german_ring

I love rings! The one on the bottom right was the one that I won. Unfortunately, I misplaced this ring the other day. :(

It was either stolen, fell in the trash (and thrown away), or somewhere on the messy floor of my office or tucked away somewhere. It probably has to do something with karma.

7) MUMMiFiED MONKEY’S PAW BLiSTER TRiCK HALLOWEEN

cursed_monkey_paw

My friend sent me this auction and of course I had to have it! I remember Mike Jones was with me when I opened this and we couldn’t stop cracking up! This thing is so twisted and gross! The basic trick is that you tell people you found a cursed monkey paw and then someone is supposed to put a match to one of the fingers and all of sudden the Magician gets a blister on the finger the match was put to. Yea it makes no sense at all, but the hand is pretty damn cool, sort of.

8) 4 ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES VINYL ACTION FIGURES

killer_tomatoes

I hardly remember the ‘Attack of the Killer Tomatoes’ Cartoon let alone the toys that they spawned. These things are so fun and squishy. Also, they look like they were made in the 80s even though they are from the mid 90s!

9) 1980s vintage monster football Madballs knockoff Taiwan

bootleg_football_madball

One of my favorite bootleg Mad Balls! This thing is just too special. Does anyone else see how special this is?!?

10) E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL non licensed! RARE! 1982

space_friend_toy

Last, but certainly not least, Space Friend! I have a few of these bootleg E.T dolls, but not in the packaging like this! Around 10 years ago my friend Chris found this little creep at a Flea Market in Orlando. We were so amazed (excited, confused, in shock?!?) of the packaging. No country of origin, no manufacture name, no nothing, just SPACE FRIEND. How amazing is this?! I had never seen another in the package until a month or two ago on eBay. Finally, my very own space friend. I love you space friend.

those are so cool, i just may have to start doing that.

  2. Toilet Cobra Says:

These are all so beautiful. It’s weird being in the Mishka office because I want to ask about everything and I can tell that everybody just wants to get back to work.

That furry yellow doll is especially great. That football is better than most of what Takashi Murakami does.fffff

This is a great blog entry. I want my home to look like the Mishka office.

  3. Oh Mars Says:

Space Friend, you know what you’ve done.

  4. kingsnake Says:

damn, that’s a nice score overall! I had to put a hold on the Ebay spending – effin’ vinyl sucked up my entire tax return + some. I did land recently, though, a large, original print of an anatomical drawing of Hedorah. Nice….

  5. My Pal the Crook Says:

I have to tell you that every time you put a match #7 MUMMiFiED MONKEY’S PAW BLiSTER TRiCK HALLOWEEN i’m amazed that the whole thing doesn’t catch on fire. How they hell does that gross fake fur not flammable?

  6. My Pal the Crook Says:

P.S. I also like how you happened to forget to mention that #6 was an S.S. ring!

  7. Lamour Says:

These toys crush! Now you guys have to start making very similar stuff because these things are such rare finds.

  8. Sean B. Says:

I had one of those silver rings, my dad got it for me when he returned from Germany, I must have been 7 at the time going to school in uniform and a silver skull ring with spikes. No idea where it is now.

  9. lesa Says:

mmm hmmm nice to see all the stuff you bought that i didn’t know about
leave it all at the office please

oh yeah and don’t ever tell me i shop too much

  10. The Captain Says:

I’d like to see the price tags on these!

The Killer Tomatoes toys are amazing, and the Madball Football bootleg is really rad, I somewhat remember something like that.

and the gigglee eye monster would look really funny just hanging out in an office.

  11. diplo Says:

    yuk man has 3 lips?

  12. Prolly Says:

I do remember the yeller googlie eye feller from somewhere. LuLz at Lesa’s comment. F41L greg!

  13. Toilet Cobra Says:

Diplo reads this blog. My next blog entry is,”Hey, Diplo. You are so great. Why are you so great? Please be my big brother and teach me how to DJ better and discover amazing musical trends before the rest of America does.” The blog entry itself would just be a picture of me without shoes sitting on the sidewalk.

  14. Petey Says:

I used to have that mummy’s curse toy! wow… so dope

  15. cody Says:

the madball football is sick! i wish i still had all of mine! time to dig through moms basement.

  16. sasquach Says:

Thats hella fucking bizarre that you own an SS honor ring!!! My girlfriends mother had one up until a short time ago and sold it to a buyer in Cali somewhere. It was passed to her from her father who brought it back from Germany after WWII. i think we still have some pictures of it, it was in superb shape for how old it is.

  17. Twerps! Says:

It wasn’t an honor ring. It was probably made by a local jeweler of the time for both soldiers and sympathizers of the SS. I guess there were a lot of independent jewelers doing this at the time.

  18. Kirk D. Says:

All of that in a single year?! Tremendous finds! These ten could be your entire collection and you’d still rank as one of the great modern collectors. It all works so well together Yuk-Man and Super Monster are my favorites. Thanks for introducing them to my eyes.
(And is that ring on the left not Beastman from the Masters of the Universe?)
Very well done. I can’t wait to see what you gather this year.

  19. rita s Says:

I got the yellow gigglee eyes monster from somewhere when I was a kid, and I still have it. It wasn’t in 1988 though, it was in the early 90ies.

  20. Marco Perez Says:
