Final Crisis #6, Whaaat?

In the sixth (out of seven) issue of DC’s mega blockbuster , Final Crisis, Grant Morrison finally delivers! Wow! I’m not going to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t or isn’t reading this yet, but even-though we all saw it coming it doesn’t make it any less shocking. The image on the last page of the issue of Superman holding #%!%^& was my favorite page (thanks to the art of Doug Mahnke) of the whole convoluted and confusing series .
Don’t get me wrong, I love Grant Morrison and I thought his work on All-Star Superman and Seven Soldiers of Victory was great (he made Frankenstein a favorite character of mine). But I just felt this series was a little forced and now feels like it was solely a vehicle for the outcome of this issue. If none of what I just wrote makes any sense to you, go to your local comic book shop and pick up Final Crisis #6, cry into your batman pillowcase and then come back and tell me what you thought.

He’s not really dead. I make it no secret that I think Morrison is overrated and gets way more credit than he deserves.

But I have to give him credit that he knows the DC Universe inside and out and really dug deep into the archives into how to kill someone off while leaving them an escape plan.

No kidding, while reading this I often felt like Morrison had written something that only he would get. His layered references in this series had me thinking I must have missed something, like 40 plus years of DC history! But, I figured I was alone.

What do you think Batmans escape plan is going to be? I do have to give credit though as it seems to me that when DC kills a character, they usually stay dead( except for Supes, and Barry Allen). Unlike Marvel.

You can see the last pages and even the explanation of the loophole in which DC will bring him back here:

shit like this just supports my argument that the monthly title should be dead and buried. These publishers would be so better off if they just commissioned artists/writers to do self contained “elseworlds” type of mini series with the flagship characters instead of adhering to one timeline. The deaths and conflicts would mean so much more. It’s gotten to the point where we wonder how they will bring the heroes back from the dead and not the severity of their deaths. Disposable double gatefold and polybagged bullshit.

DC has brought back Superman, Barry Allen, Hal Jordan & Jason Todd! They do not keep people dead.

What about Ted Kord, Superboy, Max Lord, the Question,Capt Boomerang(sp), etc.? The main people Marvel has killed off in the last 3 years, only one ( Cap) hasnt returned.

Yes, but Marvel kills off minor character (which is what I consider most of those) and also leaves them dead.
I also know one of those on your list is coming back. But I’m sworn to secrecy!
Look both Marvel & DC are guilty of playing the reviving the dead game! I actually don’t mind it if it’s done cleverly…
Also i forgot to say DC also brought the Green Arrow back to life as well!

I’ll most likely pick this up when its collected into TP. Which i usually do with DC.
Also, yes both companies are guilty of deaths and resurrections.
Batman will come back in some form or another just like Cap. You cant kill off a character that makes you a huge amount of money, this Batman death is the equivelent of killing off Spiderman at Marvel it won’t and can not happen.

Have you seen the last page of this issue?SPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILER!!
Batman is a fuckin’ french fry! Eye sockets all smoking and shit, how can they (DC)possibly explain that away? Was it earth 22 batman? Was it Batman that got lost in the speed force with Barry Allen , and our earths batman is sippin’ Mait Tai’s on the beach on earth 13?

Click Cornbluths link. There is already a slew of dudes who know the DC Universe and Kirby’s 4th World way better than I do explaining how Batman could survive this “death”.
I unfortunately can’t for some reason not find most of those links :/
Look man I HOPE batman is dead. At least for a little while. I’d love to see Dick Grayson as Batman finally. I just know that DC can’t kill off Bruce Wayne the same way they did to say Hal Jordan and Barry Allen and replace them with new Green Lanterns and Flashes. Bruce Wayne will be alive and well somehow, someway. Probably just in time for a Summer crossover event.

Okay, so maybe the Omega beam sent him back in time? So now he’s going to pop up and start living his life like nothing happened? Whatever happens seems like it will be a let down, unless Morrison can dazzle us all in the final issue. Batman as a New God?
