Animal Collective – My Girls Video
I’ll say it… Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion is a great album, however I’m still not certain that it’s 0.4 from perfection. For the album’s first video they chose My Girls and tapped the über talented Jon Vermilyea to do animate it alongside video effects by Chad Von Nau.
Jon has been one of our longtime “go-to” illustrators here at Mishka. He’s done so many T-shirt illustrations that I don’t even want to begin rattling off a huge list because I’m afraid I’ll forget a bunch. He’s got a pretty distinctive style so I’m you all can put two & two together once you see his work. Congrats Jon!

This got improved from the last time I saw it. I still wish that more happened. The backgrounds make me want to have some Doritos and Pepsi.

Although i did bad mouth MGMT in my last comment about this CD… this is very MGMT-like. I stilll sick by my opinion that Merriweather Post Pavillion is a 9 out of 10. This video only makes me believe more firmly in that opinion.
And pitchfork kinda sucks. I am so sick of music magazines and wesites. Most of it its just a ton of buzz words being thrown around in a pretentious and contentious manner so that the editors can seem edgey, hip and smart.

I saw them play in london the other week, it was a top drawer performance and I can’t get enough of the album. I agree about the ratings though.
enjoyed the video, reminds me of those blue, intel, pentium dudes. The cosmic boiling effect towards the end was worth it.

Haha, i see what you mean but I don’t think anyone would view a comparison to the Blue Man Group as a positive thing!
