Jamie Foxx + T-Pain + Auto tune + Ron Howard = WTF x 1,000

ronhoward1

One could easily argue that the appearance of Jamie Foxx in a music video should be filed under “suspect,” but this particular vid is his own, a jam he shares a “featuring” with T-Pain. But slow-motion cameos of Jake Gyllenhaal, Forest Whitaker, and Ron fucking Howard launch “Blame It (On The Alcohol)” over the top into Bizarro World territory. The Samuel L. Jackson cameo doesn’t count. Dude will do anything — e.g. he just signed on to play Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. in up to nine movies.

But Ron Howard? After watching each episode of Arrested Development ten times over, I have a new found respect. Him ballin’ just makes me like Opie that much more.

There’s also a man in a panda suit.

hallelujahfront

Hallelujah! Winter is coming to close and Spring is just around the corner. Soon enough the birds will be chirping, the flowers will be in bloom and you’ll be shedding all those layers for more comfortable and functional clothing.

Luckily for you, we’ve done our first Spring drop just in time for everyone to start stocking up before the season is in full swing.

Take a look and see what’s been going on here at the headquarters, while everyone else has been in hibernation, we’ve been working hard to bring out some new and innovative designs.

Starting off with our Hallelujah! Spring ’09 Tees, moving on to our new New Era Caps, never seen before Painters Caps and Snapbacks, and brand new backpacks and shoulder bags we ran the gamut to make sure we had a little something for everyone as the sun starts to shine a little more and the days get a bit longer.

Not to mention we produced a couple of cool odds and ends worth checking out, including this limited edition print by cult illustrator and screenprinter, Frank Kozik.

Suffice to say you’ll be screaming Hallelujah! once you’re through checking out what we have to offer.

I’m Not a Weirdo

I got my girl the old fashioned way: roofies and duct tape.  But if I knew this worked, well fuck…call me Clark Cable.

Or Greg Rivera.

Download: The Mother Russia Vinyl Archeology Mix

As promised, here is the accompanying mix I made to my Vinyl Archeology article for the Fader. The mix contains an hour of music taken from the tracks or bands mentioned in the article, some I had to cut for space, and some actual Russian bands for good measure.

Thanks to the Fader for giving me the opportunity to do this!

If You Had Only One Choice….

prv2137_pg3

Ok so this may come off as uber weird or super dorky, but I’ve pondered this very thought for quite some time now.  For as long as I’ve read comics, I don’t think this topic has ever been discussed. Well, maybe by core-dorks within their private confines.  But I don’t think anyone has stepped forward publicly, put their neck on the line and admitted to have thought this.  And probably for good cause. I really don’t see any good coming out of this other than a shitload of chacarcter defamation up the yiing yang.  But I’m very sure if you ever read comics, at some point you asked yourself this same question.

I know I’ve thought about it a million times and It’s pretty shameful that I’ve dedicate that much thought to it. But I personally need closure.  And I also need to know that there are other weirdos out there just like me.

So in the venerable words of The Choice is Yours, if one could only exist…..

New Comicbook Day #3

Friday, February 27th, 2009

gl-cv38

This week I bought a ton of new releases, but very few were mentionable. I don’t want to seem like I’m the typical “Comicbook Guy” who thinks everything sucks, but the big two are pretty much in a mega-crossover-event-crisis time loop. I’m starting to feel like I’m just buying certain books **cough cough Avengers cough** as just an autonomic response like breathing. How can I really complain though when I bought every issue of Final Crisis and the Skrull Invasion, including the tie-ins? By doing so I’m telling Marvel and DC to keep doing more of the same old shit by giving them my money. Well no more, I’m not buying any more fucking tie-ins, or mega cross-over bullshit, or cross-over-crisis-fallout books, I’ve had it!

On that note, the one book from the big two that continues to impress and progress is Green Lantern written by Geoff Johns with art by Ivan Reis. In this week’s issue #38 we find Hal Jordan right where we last saw him, being taken over by the ring of the Red Lanterns and doing his best to kill everyone around him. The Blue Lanterns try to talk Hal down from his red rage, but it is revealed that they are powerless without a Green Lantern’s will for them to feed from . Red Lantern leader Atrocious tries to take advantage of the situation, but is soon rebuffed when in a last ditch effort, Blue Lantern Saint Walker slips his blue ring on Hal Jordan’s finger and the poison of the red ring is expelled from Hals body. Now Hal Jordan is a mix of Green and Blue Lanterns. Elewhere Sinestro escapes Ysmault and flees to Qward along with a few of the Sinestro Corps members who haven’t pledged their allegiance to Mongul (as seen in Green Lantern Corps). We also see a lonely Carol Ferris being inducted into the Star Sapphires and rogue Guardian “Scar” bleeding black from his eyes as he writes in the Book of Black.

Another book I have to mention is the Umbrella Academy issue #4 ( of 6?) written by Gerard Way with art by Gabriel Ba. I know what you’re thinking ” that dude from My Chemical Romance is writing a comicbook? That has to suck!” but you bastards couldn’t be more wrong! This is the second miniseries from publisher Dark Horse and Gerard Way is starting to hit his stride. I’ll give you uninitiated a short synopsis; seven unrelated orphans are adopted by a Professor who cultivates their special “gifts” and they become a, with the aid of the Professors Chimpanzee lab assistant, “super team”. More like creepy kids wearing catholic school uniforms. Needless to say they have a dysfunctional family. Well , the Professor dies, they all grow up and most continue in the hero business save number 7 who seemed to have no powers and number 5 who disappeared when they were kids. In the first miniseries the group is brought back together to face a global threat that turns out to be one of their own and number 5 returns , seeming to have never aged. In the new miniseries, the group is dealing with the fallout of the first story and we learn much more about number 5 and how this ” little boy” may be the most dangerous assassin the world has ever seen, and how with the aid of a group of time police he must stop himself from carrying out the assassination of J.F.K. .
