What do you think Alex The Great whispered into Crosby’s ear?

Ovechkin is unstoppable! In just a couple years, this guy is already ruling and intimidating the league. He’s so much more physical than Gretzky yet just as graceful on skates and puck control. Absolutely crushes opponents. HUGE HITS – guys go flying in the air when this 230-pound Russian makes contact – then hit the ice hard.

set to Iron Maiden’s “Mother Russia”
    he even fights goalies (3:22)

and when he crashes into the boards and has to leave, he’s so pissed.

Still cannot believe his goal against Phoenix. I thought you were going to show his goal on Wednesday against Montreal.
    OFF the bench
OFF the board, backward pass to HIMSELF
and, as always, INTO the net!

    RAZZLE-DAZZLE.

NYT Sunday Sports, “If Ovechkin is Gretzky, then MIKE GREEN could become the Capital’s Paul Coffey, a dynamic, swift-skating defenseman who worries the rest of the league just as much. Like Coffey, the 6’2″ Green has a lazer shot to go with his speed and his knack for finding a defense’s soft spots. Particularly effective on the power play with Ovechkin, Alexander Semin and Nicklas Backstrom. Entering Saturday, Green’s 15 power play goals were tied for the league lead. …The first defenseman to score in 8 consecutive games, breaking the record NOT set by Coffey, Bobby Orr or Ray Bourque, but by Bruins’ unheralded Mike O’Connell 24 seasons ago.”

Oh, Crook, that Devils-Isles game was totally unexpected, esp after trading Comrie and Campoli, and getting blown out by Carolina (who have been playing lately). Clemmensen has given up so many goals in the last 3 games. Marty back on Thursday???

i keep watching that Randy Moller Panthers clip. can’t believe he quotes Sir Mix-a-lot and Kool Moe Dee with Fozzy Bear and Clint Eastwood.

in March 08, Ovechkin hits Malkin pretty hard. Something’s been brewing against the Penguins for over a year.

and there was a Part 2 to Ovechkin’s hits from 06-07 season set to Tool.

    Crosby’s a puss.

the caps are clicking on all cylinders right now like the pens were this time last year. the pens need to get their act together like right now. they’ve looked way better since the interim coach stepped in but it’s not enough, they’ve been out of the playoff picture like all season. get crosby a scoring winger that won’t pull a hossa in the offseason and maybe some magic will happen. GO PENS

i asked for an Okposo jersey for my bday but I was real close to just getting an Ovechkin one. He’s making some of my non-hockey friends become hockey people…

the penguins need to get their shit together and make the playoffs though – i want these 2 teams to somehow meet up.

Crosby’s a whiny bitch who drinks Tim Hortons and plays hockey with little kids. What a fheg.

The NYork Rangers have fired Tom Renney after 5 seasons at the helm of the suddenly struggling team, the coach confirmed Monday to ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBrun.

Renney was 164-121-42 with the Rangers. The Rangers had dropped to 31-23-7 after a stretch in which they lost 10 of their past 12 games, slipping to sixth place in the East after starting the season winning 10 of 13.

  11. rn Says:

    from Newsday blog:
Ranger players didn’t know who his replacement would be. “It’ll probably be a hard-ass,” one veteran said. That would fit the Torts (John Tortorella, ex-Tampa coach) profile, who has had public meltdowns from the bench to the dressing room and with the media.

  12. My Pal the Crook Says:

I don’t think Sather would hire Tortella. He’s too outspoken

  13. rn Says:

That’s the whisper rumor i heard. Glen Sather is so quiet and avoids the press to such a degree that the Rangers could use someone to put in front of the NY Press, MSG Channel and angry Rangers fans inside the Garden.

The team has hit a bad streak but it cant score either. No Jagr, No Shanahan, No Straka. The team is too young in some regards.

The future of the franchise was set up to be Alexei Cherepanov. When he died in October, it was a big blow to Sather’s future team after all the changes from last year’s team.

In the X-Files episode “Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man,” it is said that the Soviet Union lost because the Cigarette Smoking Man rigged the game by drugging the Soviet goaltender (Tretiak).
    Thanks wiki.

Today (the 24th) is the day the USA team scored 3 goals in the 3rd period to beat Finland for the Gold.
