Review: Blank Dogs – Seconds EP

Blank Dogs – Seconds EP (2009) [Captured Tracks] // Grade: B
The ridiculously prolific Blank Dogs are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. As I (and I’m sure others) eagerly await their new full length Under and Under, Mike Sniper hits us off with a 4-song EP of his so-called “Shitgaze.” Sniper’s Blank Dogs are easily (in my opinion) leading the charge and setting the tone of the recent bi-coastal Lo-Fi revolution. No one since Lou Barlow has made so much out of so little.
As always the Blank Dogs translate decades of garage, pop & punk through their distorted spectacles until it’s entirely their own soft fuzzy blanket. There’s nothing more refreshing and enjoyable than hearing songs that are driven solely by the passion for writing a good heartfelt tune.
If you’re new to Blank Dogs I really recommend downloading last years On Two Sides which was released for free and get on the Lo-Fi wave.
