Choice Is Yours Vol. 20

Bjork - Post
Bjork – Post (1995)

Vs.

odelay
Beck – Odelay (1996)

The Game is simple… if only one could exist which would it be?  What’s more important… personal relevance, cultural significance, or simply being the better album all other things aside? Choice is yours…

    Post. hands down.

  2. Mike Jones Says:

    Odelay.

    Sorry Bjork.

  3. eric Says:

odelay, hell i still listen to that in regular rotation. please don’t hurt me bjork

  4. Oh Mars Says:

Post does more for me personally than Odelay. So Post.
“Enjoy,” especially live versions, is untouchable.

  5. Tom Says:

    Post. Enjoy IS untouchable.

  6. Sealed In Skin Says:

goin with Mike on this one.

    Odelay

  7. My Pal the Crook Says:

I’m waiting for the people to come in and complain on why I didn’t choose “Mellow Gold” and/or “Debut”.

P.S. does anyone else ever get headaches from listening to Bjork??

  8. Chenyip Says:

this is a CIY that is leagues beyond my taste-buds.

  9. My Pal the Crook Says:

    Where it’s at?

  10. Oh Mars Says:

@Crook – I prefer Post to Debut, but I also prefer Homogenic to Post. I dig her abstract, orchestral stuff more.

  11. Blake Sinclair Says:

oh god. i wish i could make them both go away.

  12. GlamNation Says:

Odelay all the way, I hope Bjork gets decapitated, and yes not only does her music give me a headache, she IS a living and breathing headache

  13. ElGalloGigante Says:

No hi-jacking, huh? Well I’m going with Odelay because unlike Post or any other Bjork album, I don’t have to be in a specific mind frame to enjoy it. Odelay is still allowed to participate in the all-encompassing-shuffle, while Post is scattered amongst playlists; mainly “Enjoy” is sprinkled on playlists here and there.

  14. Chenyip Says:

MPTC: I could give a fuck less about Bjork and I’m terribly indifferent about Beck.

This is the equivalent of asking me: would you rather eat dog shit with corn or bloody semen?

  15. kingsnake Says:

yow, Beck is one of the worst performers around. I never could understand his appeal, even while jacked up on drugs / booze. Bjork did it for me though with Post, so I gotta go with her.

  16. Pookas Says:

Beck is as boring as the Beastie Boys.

    Post the whole way.

  17. ANTONIOSF Says:

    POST

  18. nice guy eric Says:

odelay was like my sonic security blanket when i was kid.

  19. akm Says:

    odelay, y’all.

if were a CIY between bjork and beck i’d take bjork every time. but here’s the thing: odelay is the only beck album i can leave on repeat, while i prefer to listen to homogenic and vespertine over post.

    bingo bango bongo

  20. the bollocks Says:

WORD LIFE to akm. Bjork is the shit, but Post is far from her greatest work. Vespertine is unfuckwithable, Homogenic is possibly even better, and let’s not forget her recent output! Medulla is a really, really solid album with a great concept. HOWEVER none of those are in question here…

Beck was one of the performers at the first concert I ever attended, and he was touring behind this album. I’ll never forget the way he popped and locked through the entire set, pausing only to sing: “I get down, I get down, I get down all the waaaay…” The man was a brilliant artist in his heyday. He’s become hopelessly MOR now, but Odelay was one of the greatest albums of the 90′s and nobody can fuck with that.
