Gomorrah

Gomorrah is a genre film about the Camorra Mafia in Naples and its effect on just about every institution of day to day life in the region of Campania. The movie’s name is a reference to a city which was destroyed by God in the book of Genesis because it had become synonymous with impenitent sin.
Neither glamorized or adulterated, Gomorrah gives a realistic depiction of Italian mafia and as a result can be difficult to watch at times. If you are anything like the grip of douche bags filling the theatre last night that kept walking out at various points because it was “…fucking nothing like the Godfather bro!“, then be forewarned: There are no three piece suits, no Cadillacs and no cigar. Gomorrah effectively makes everyone involved in organized crime look like a cockroach piece of shit.
Gomorrah is based on a best selling tell all book written by ex-Camorra accountant Roberto Saviano that is published under the same name as the movie. Since Savino’s book was released last November he has been marked for a million euro bounty by his ex-employers and admits that he is a walking dead man. An Interview with Saviano is below:
If you’re sick of Hollywood fluff and are looking for some gangster real talk give Gomorrah a shot.
