Stan Bush, Just Don’t
In hopes that it’ll be used on the soundtrack for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Stan Bush has re-recorded his 1986 cheese-rock classic “The Touch,” featured most triumphantly in the classic Transformers movie. The new version is called “Sam’s Theme” and has been updated to include a middle-aged white dude rapping and plenty of drop-D riffs. The sad part is, Stan did this on his own, it’s not like he was asked by Michael Bay. After listening to the above piece of shit, forget you did and check out the superior original below.

I don’t know what’s funnier, the Guido dude dropping rhymes or the fact that I could just as easily see this on the actual movie soundtrack.
Also it may be just me but I think most people know this song from Boogie Nights as the song Mark Wahlberg & John C. Reilly try to record rather than from Transformers: The Movie

I thought that was Baba Booey rapping!

I just read there’s a new Linkin Park single on the soundtrack so…

Yeah, most people know it from Boogie Nights and will go so far as to want to fight you when you tell them that the original song was featured in Transformers: The Movie. It is a very nice piece of bar trivia for most of the world.
Sure, it wouldn’t work in a bar full of you dorks (myself included), but for the *rest* of the world, well, the top one is probably good enough.
That part of the trailer where bumblebee plays ‘I’m so Excited’ when Shy LaBeef tells him about college is just about the stupidest fucking thing I’ve ever seen. Transformers and music clearly do not mix.

I actually still to this day don’t understand if they were covering “The Touch” in Boogie Nights or if we were just supposed to take it as a song they had written.

You know what’s funny… I bet you anything that had Stan Bush asked Linkin Park re-make “The Touch” with me they probably would have. Those dudes are such comic geeks they would have probably totally gotten off on the concept.

I always got the impression that we were supposed to believe that they had written it themselves, but yeah, I could see how they would be covering it.
In the alternate Boogie Nights Universe, the movie would have been coming out around the same time, so they wouldn’t be covering an older hit, it’d be very much NOW for them. What a ridiculous paragraph.
And I wouldn’t be surprised if you were right about the LP collab-o. I can see the singer dude not sounding too much better than Marky Mark though, and rapper dude would, well, sound like this other rapper dude.

I always took it like their characters had just went to see the Transformers movie and were blown away by The Touch and decided “Yo we have to cover this!”
It’s the sort of song that is so bad yet so fucking good that you could just as believably see these those two half wits coming up with it. Like Paul Thomas Anderson was like “What song would come off as believably as the sort of song Dirk Diggler could have written?” Enter the Touch.
I wish Paul Thomas Anderson read this blog and could put an end to this debate that has raged in my head for over a decade!

This is apparently NOT his web address: http://www.ptanderson.com/
And the dude tweeting as ptanderson is decidedly NOT him, either.
I tried. Enter my dojo.

Doesn’t Mishka have some celebrity pull? Try playing Six Degrees of Ludacris and see if it leads to PT.

Linkin park should cover this song for the Bay movie. It would make me a fan of theirs. RE: Boogie Nights –The sad thing is that Pta would probably just say, ” I dunno, I needed a really corny song for the scene, and found this.”
“You give us the tapes…we go get a record contract…WE’LL GIVE YOU YOUR FUCKING MONEY!!”

This shit is epic. It’s just epic.
