Review: Amazing Baby – Rewild

Amazing-Baby--Rewild

Amazing BabyRewild (2009) [Shangri-La] // Grade: C

Amazing Baby is another in a long line of Brooklyn bands creating some buzz for themselves… Why they’re creating said “buzz”, I’m not entirely too sure? Rewild is the sort of unremarkable album that’s going to find it hard swimming in the already overcrowded Psych Pop waters of the Indie scene. But that’s not to say that the album isn’t enjoyable… tracks like “Bayonets”, “The Nahrwal”, “Roverfrenz” & “Pump your Breaks” are all above average fare when placed up against the multitude of songs being churned out these days by C-grade Animal Collectives, MGMT-lites and Yeasayer Jrs. However as a whole Rewild really does nothing to set itself apart and establish an identity that says “We’re Amazing Baby!”, instead it’s just a lot of hushed whispers that state “We’re yet another band from Williamsburg!”
