Lost Final Season Viral Marketing; Paul Scheer to Die on August 15th

PolarBearsHug

A few weeks ago, Crook posted the Lost panel from the SDCC. One of the curveballs was the appearance of comedian Paul Scheer, who expressed to producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse his passion for the show (check out the video here). Then he presented them with the above black velvet painting of themselves bro-ing down with a polar bear and plugged his website Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear. Confused, Damon and Carlton accepted the gift.

Scheer announced that he will be creating more paintings and selling them through his website starting on August 15. Soon after, he started receiving messages from “Ronie Midfew Arts,” who threatened Scheer with legal action if he continued creating Lost related art. One of their lawyers even handed him a cease and desist at one of his UCB gigs. The agency also sent letters via FedEx to anyone Paul sent a copy of the painting to, including DocArtz. At the “Ronie Midfew Arts” website, viewers are greeted by this cryptic message:

“Ronie Midfew Arts” is actually an anagram for “Widmore Fine Arts,” as in Charles Widmore. At the website of “Widmore Fine Arts,” the author talks about their gallery in London, owned by “Uncle Charles,” and located down the street from Austin Desmond Gallery (which is an actual gallery?).Paul then received the picture below from an ABC intern calling himself “Mr. Klugh” (pronounced “clue,” I’m sure):

That’s Paul’s painting in the trash. Paul was so upset by this, he decided to sneak into the Lost offices to confront Damon and Carlton. Conveniently enough, he videotaped it:

While dumpster diving at ABC, Paul discovered a rose and a shredded document: the cover page for the first episode of season 6! The episode is (supposedly) called “LA X.” Not “LAX” like the abbreviation for the airport, just “LA X.”

Fine, ABC, you have my attention. I’ll wake up on the August 15 and jump online to see if you killed Paul Scheer.

Judging by some of the season 6 nuggets we’ve seen so far, like the Oceanic Airlines, America’s Most Wanted, and Mr. Clucks bits, it seems like season 6 might start off before the crash. It’s also confirmed that Charley, Juliette, and other dead characters will be making appearances. If that’s the case, it should be pretty interesting to see how they knock everything out of whack again. Or is the crash never happening out of whack? But let’s remain calm, there’s only six stinkin’ months until the season 6 premiere.
