Review: Reigning Sound – Love and Curses
Reigning Sound – Love and Curses (2009) [In The Red] // Grade: C
Every time Reigning Sound but out an album I get suckered into hearing by boastful claims of “Dude this is best pure Rock ‘N Roll record you’ll hear all year!” Really? Because time and time again the “Best Rock ‘N Roll of the year” ends up sounding like that innocuous bar band playing every single pub with a stage across this country.
Seriously have that many people into Reigning Sound never set foot into a bar in a Blue Collar neighborhood that hosts bands on the weekends? If you’re into this you’ll be right at home there on a Friday or Saturday night with steady set of 3 or 4 weekend warrior versions of Reigning Champs always ready to bring you some “Good Ol’ Fashioned Rock ‘N Roll”.
As with every single thing reigning Champ has put out it’s just unexceptional, though adept Rock. Love and Curses is no different for the most part. With the exception of “Stick Up For Me”, “Is It True?” and “Banker and a Liar”, three genuinely great garage rockers, Love and Curses does little to distinguish itself or create it’s own identity that is no more memorable as any background band while you down a few beers.
