Hotel Shangri-La – Santa Monica, California
This past weekend I had the pleasure to stay at the Hotel Shangri-La in Santa Monica. I had stayed here once before a few months ago, but it wasn’t completely finished with is $30 million renovation.
The hotel was built in 1939 and has not been renovated in over 25 years. Known for its streamlined Moderne architecture the hotel has been the favorite of celebrities over the years. (It was actually the place that Madonna and Sean Penn had their affair, and then their wedding party!)
We stayed in the newly renovated RNR (Rock ‘N’ Roll) Suite. Designed with the rock star in mind, the suite features 2 flat-screen TVs, a King size bed, a 6-person group shower, and kick ass view of the ocean!
While the rest of the hotel has a classic art deco design to it. The RNR suite has that “80s Deco Coke Mirror” feel to it!
The bed also has the obligatory mirrored ceiling! Oh hai!
The 6 person group shower!
The view from the shower!
The best part about the suite is the patio that looks the beach in Santa Monica.
The view of the beach!
The courtyard of the Shangri-La has an amazing deck and pool! Its also the home of So Sweet Records Pool parties!
The only boutique hotel west of the 405!

I spent a few growing-up years mere blocks away from this thing and had no idea what was inside until just now. How about that?

i would now like to request reimbursement for travel expenses in the sum of $250 for the summer of 2006. I saved the receipts in hope (…no, faith!) that someday mishka would have a positive bank acct balance and would be honored & delighted to repay me for my help in the lean years. Judging by these photos, your deep pocket days are upon us.
RNR Suite:
definately stands for ‘Rest & Relaxation’. Reception was just trying to flatter your tattoos and messy hair, Twerps. Rock & Roll has nothing to do with “2 flat-screen TVs, a King size bed, a 6-person group shower, and kick ass view of the ocean”… except for those who buy into the Hard Rock Hotel crap.

[...] Another example – one of our favorite designers is Mishka, who incidentally just blogged about our hotel and said some very nice things about us. My signature look is a bright yellow motorcycle jacket [...]
