This isn’t the good one. It’s the Disney version of Romero’s. No intestines.

  2. My Pal the Crook Says:

Dude have you actually bothered to watch it or are you just strictly on the original is better tip in all situations?

Gunn & Snyder’s are two of the best things to happen to Horror this decade and this remake is pretty fucking fantastic re-imagining.

  3. Cornbluth Says:

I’m backing Crook on this…GREAT movie!

  4. Herpes Says:

No, Patrick is right. This movie is utter shit. It is completely devoid of the political undertones that make all Romero films great. Also, zeds can’t run.

  5. Patrick Says:

I went to go see this when it came out. It was good for cheap thrills like shit getting blown up. Admittedly, the whole sequence with the tricked out vans was fucking awesome, but it doesn’t really do anything for me.

If I wanted to watch an action movie, I’d watch Die Hard. But if I want some legit horror, I’ll stick with my VHS copy of the original Dawn of the Dead.

Why can’t zombies run? Is it Zombie law? It’s a re imagining… why not add a different angle to it? Do you guys still flip out when you see Vampires in movies who don’t hiss at the sight of crosses?

If the reason you like the original Dawn of the Dead was because of Romero’s political undertones, then i don’t know what to tell you… that was hardly Romero’s strength or even what made the original so great. The remake is a point on campy re-telling of the original. It plays homage to Romero’s lofty ideas while also being very tongue-in-cheek at the hokeyness of it all.

I’m all for people thinking the original is a better movie, but to come out and call this remake awful or utter shit proves you’re missing it’s point and worst of all, you’re missing the fun. Gunn and Snyder never sought to top the original, they tried to appease both gorehounds scrutiny and the mass market demands. You think that’s easy to do while having it be enjoyable and original? Go watch Romero’s Diary of the Dead and tell me how good of a job he did at it…

I also saw this in the theatre and and thought it was amazing. I think it was mentioned in the comments of a post awhile back about having one the most entertaining intros of any horror/action/whatever flick in a long time.

Not to mention it was mostly all filmed in Thornhill, Ontario where most of the locals don’t seem too different from Romero’s mindless, stinking masses of undead.

Big shout out to Thornhill Ontario!

I myself am not a big fan of remakes, but this film gets a three thumbs up from me. I thought the way this was all reworked didn’t do any injustice to the original. I feel it sticks to the original vision and is a great film. Anyhow this film is awesome, how die-hard can someone be to deny a great movie?! It’s not like Michael Bay made this.

i always seen this on tv but from the middle and now i got a chance to see it from beginning lol. I would say this one wasnt’ that bad if you compare to some others zombie movies.

Best choice ever made in a zombie flick? Runners. My favorite. Other people may think other things but I love a good runner in a zombie movie.
