The Diary of Anne Frankenstein

DiaryofAnneFrankenstein

My oldest friend in the world is premiering his first ever play, The Diary of Anne Frankenstein tonight in NYC. It’s Mary Shelley-meets-Hitler in an Absurdist Comedy featuring loads of drag queens and loads of off-color humor and depravity I imagine.

Theatre A L’Orange will present the World Premiere of The Diary of Anne Frankenstein, an absurdist re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic by Ilya Sapiroe. Directed by Elizabeth Elkins, previews begin October 1st at 13th Street Rep. Opening night is slated for October 4th.

The Diary of Anne Frankenstein follows Anne, a lowly hermaphroditic Franken-girl with big dreams and an even bigger diary, as she comes of age in the attic of an abandoned genetics laboratory in Bavaria in 1945. After years of peaceful anonymity, Anne’s privacy comes to an end when her cruel and twisted creator, Dr. Gustav Frankenstein, returns to the defunct compound with an eye toward his most fiendish experiment yet – the resurrection of Adolf Hitler!

The show is in previews tonight and runs until November 8th at the 13th Street Rep Theatre . Showtime is 9pm on Thursdays and Saturdays, 7pm on Sundays. Tickets are $22.50
