Californication Re-Up: Verities & Balderdash

Hank Moody owns a snuggie and still makes it seem badass.
Californication has been coming so correct every episode this season and as much as I miss Karen, Hank’s new interests are nicely filling that void. While attending an English Department mixer, Hank goes for the hat trick by kissing Felicia, screwing TA Jill, and hitting on his student Jackie. I used to go to History Department dinners in college. Usually I would just eat all the shrimp and steal bread. Hank does have a genuinely nice moment with Felicia, and seems sincere in his monologue about how fascinated he is by women. Then he bangs Jill in the Dean’s office. But I think it does show Hank’s direction this season: trying to live a stable life teaching and raising Becca.
Charley scores his first client at the new agency with teen idol Rick Springfield. At first Marcy is indifferent, but she has a change of heart and goes to his office with champagne, only to find him balls deep in Kathleen Turner. So gross. But it does show that the Walls of Marcy are starting to fall and Charley has some chance of getting her back.
The episode featured this great tune by The Monks, “Boys Are Boys and Girls Are Choice.”
