Somewhere on the Northern coast of Taiwan lies this ultramodern, colorful, abandoned, sanctuary of UFO like apartments.  This village outside of Taipei called Sanzhi, was built in the 1980s.  Today it is an abandoned, rundown and unfinished venture of futuristic architecture.  It was intended to be a holiday retreat for the people who had a lot of money, the wealthy Taiwanese families.

It never actually opened as an established vacation resort, but it can be toured!  There is not much authentic English information about this place, but rumor has it that the people who were doing the construction died… fatally! Leaving the project uncompleted and supposedly haunted by their ghosts.  (OoOoOhhhhh –spooky!) I think the gloomy, overcast background in the pictures adds spookiness of the whole place.

Sucks, because this looks as though it would have been a pretty sick vacation spot.  R.I.P. to those people who died there, and the folks at Notcot and this flickr set for bringing these architectural oddities to our attention!
