Choice Is Yours Vol. 50: It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back vs. The Clash

Public Enemy – It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (1988)
Vs.

The Clash – S/T (1977)
The Game is simple… if only one could exist which would it be? What’s more important… personal relevance, cultural significance, or simply being the better album all other things aside? Choice is yours…

hahaha – uh, Public Enemy hands down. While I do love me punk and all, PE tops Clash. See them live and you’ll know.

It has to be The Clash. Although, Public Enemy did run with what the Punk movement embodied and increased awareness of social injustice that everyone was trying hard to ignore.

Might have to go with the Clash on this one… personal relevance wins out this time.

WTF The Clash. handsdown. I’ve seen PE live, Paul Simonon would kick the shit outta them by himself.

Gotta go with Public Enemy on this one. If it was London Calling or Sandista it might be harder. To me It Takes a Nation is the best album of the 80s. Even today the Bomb Squad is way ahead of their time.

The Clash. No Clash, No PE.

What a cruel choice to hand to someone. Almost like asking you to choose between your mom and your pops.
Almost.
I’d have to choose It Takes a Nation of Millions because it was MY record.
The Clash may have paved way but I was just a tyke when it came out. Sure, I’d hear it over the years but I didn’t really get a chance to revisit it until well after.
But PE, man, when your a young colored kid, living in a sea of white in the far north, and seemingly by divine providence, this tape, nay THAT tape, lands in your hands… well, it changes the world and your soul.

‘White Punks on Hope’…” They said that we were trash, well the name is Crass not Clash. They can stuff their punk credentials cause it’s them that takes the cash. They won’t change nothing with their fashionable talk, their RAR badges and their protest walk, thousands of white men standing in a park, objecting to racism’s like a candle in the dark. Black man’s got his problems and his way to deal with it….
That being said i will go for “it takes a nation of millions to hold us back” for 400!
