DOOMed Artist Rests in Peace

Don Ivan Punchatz, the artist responsible for one of the most iconic video game box graphics passed away over the weekend. Punchatz designed the DOOM logo as well as the demonic illustration that captured the attention of a generation of adolescent males. This wasn’t the only piece of outstanding work in his portfolio; over the course of his career, he worked for clients such as Playboy, National Geographic, TIME & Newsweek.
The DOOM graphic also found it’s way into the bottomless pit of inspiration that we pull from each season. Many of you may remember the Warzone graphic from our Fall 2008 collection. The DOOM logo served as the basis for the Мишка text on this shirt, our way of paying a respectful homage to a great piece of artistic & cultural inspiration. Rest in Peace.

Bummer! But at least he’s left behind a solid legacy… that illustration is still fucking awesome.
