Light Play!

The perfect bookend to my previous post on digital graffiti, we see technology. Dry-Erase boards and doodle boards meet your future replacement… the Magic Draw.

The Magic Draw is being advertised on Nickelodeon targeting preschoolers, tweens and younger kids.  The board is glow-in-the-dark and allows the path of the pen to be illuminated across the surface show whatever you write/draw as it would on a typical drawing board.  It will even remember the shape of something placed on it. There is no mess, no clean up, and it can even be mounted on a wall if prefer.  It measures 12” x 15”,comes with two stencils and can be purchased at CoolStuffExpress for only $19.99.

Unfortunately the commercial is pretty hokey and makes toy seriously look like if you’re above the age of 7, you’re not going to have any fun with it. But if you’re determined to still draw with light than perhaps Glow Graffiti is for you…

This is another really cool glow gadget I found while looking up making art with light. This thing looks way more professional and is obviously being marketed as a “big boy toy”.  Hopefully it works, because smoking some pot, cranking some music and turning your living room into a custom blacklight poster sounds like a good time to me.

What the hell is up with that promo pic? “HELLO I LOVE YOU STENCIL GRAFFITI” over a mostly hidden Mona Lisa?? WTF? Anyway… Check out how it works below.

Each kit contains a large sheet (70cm x 70cm) of glow in the dark material along with a UV (or blacklight) torch in the shape of a spray-paint can. Shining the torch onto the material for only a moment will super-charge the glow in the dark material and make that area glow brightly. Move the can closer to the material to make brighter smaller point and further away to make a wider gentler glow. The glow slowly fades away over time leaving you with a blank canvas ready for your next masterpiece!
