The Killer Inside Me Sales Trailer – Watch Before It Gets Pulled!
Wow. I’m a huge Jim Thompson fan and “The Killer Inside Me” is one of the most disturbing books I’ve ever read, so when I heard it was getting the Hollywood treatment, I was more skeptical than anything. But after watching the above trailer, my anxieties have completely washed away. The film is directed by Michael Winterbottom (24 Hour Party People) and stars Casey Affleck, Jessica Alba, Elias Koteas, and Bill Pullman.
The story is told form the point of view of Lou Ford (Affleck), a 29 year old sheriff in a West Texan town. Ford describes himself as having “a sickness” which he hides underneath a facade of corny platitudes and an unassuming demeanor. When he falls into a sadomasochistic relationship with a prostitute (Alba), the sickness boils to the surface.
The story also features a brutal and humorous murder scene, which they show briefly in the footage above. That’s a major part of the book that I really hope Winterbottom stays faithful to.

You kind of forgot to mention Kate Hudson who has 2nd billing and is a very integral part of the book/film. Did you really read the book? You sort of misrepresented the plot. Fans of the book will know what I’m talking about but I’m not going to give it away for those who haven’t read it.
Having said that, this looks 100x better than the previous adaptations. Really, really looks awesome thanks to Winterbottom and and amazing looking performance from Casey Affleck.

What did I misinterpret? I didn’t want to give away too many details or give a lengthy synopsis of the whole story.
I agree with you about the other adaptations, although I liked Coup de Torchon a lot.

Oh Mars: He said “misrepresented” not “misinterpreted”

Thanks, Crook. I just didn’t want to give away anything that wasn’t in the trailer (his brother, the frame-up, etc.).

Oh Mars–I can’t really tell you what you misrepresented or it will give away basically the entire story to those who would like to be surprised. Re-read your post and look at one word in particular that is inaccurate. Also, there was never anything “humorous” about the “murder” scene. Did we read the same book? Last, what are you talking about Coup de Torchon? I was talking about the previous adaptation of The Killer Inside Me…

You said adaptation(s), so I thought you meant all the others based on Thompson’s work, not just Killer, which was only adapted once before.
And how is the murder of Amy not humorous in its presentation? Lou reads the paper during it. He makes note of what she’s wearing. He makes jokes about how cheap she is. I got a laugh out of it.

If you dig through the interwebs you can still find this trailer floating around. I show it to all of my friends.
