Black Dynamite: Right On, Right On

I’m not a huge fan of spoof movies, but this weekend I caught Scott SandersBlack Dynamite and if it weren’t for the last 25 minutes, I’d put it on par with classic spoofs like Airplane! and Blazing Saddles. It’s filled with awesome one-liners, cleverly illogical fight scenes, and Michael Jai White is fucking perfect as the lead.

White plays Black Dynamite, an ex-CIA kung-fu fucking machine who is forced back into the game after his brother is murdered. And…yeah that’s pretty much the plot, but that’s cool because the movie is hysterical and a spot-on parody of ’70s blaxploitation. But like I mentioned, the movie falls off during the last 25 minutes and it almost felt like it was a different writer/director. It really doesn’t matter though since the rest of the movie kicks so much ass and at least it gives your abs a chance to recuperate after cracking up for a solid hour.

The movie has a really limited release at the moment, so jump on that shit if it’s in your area.

Hysterical movie. Probably the best theatergoing experience I’ve had since Grindhouse.
