This was without a doubt my favorite episode of season 3 so far, for a lot of reasons: Rick Springfield having doggy-style sex with a stripper; Charlie getting a blowjob while eating a banana; classic multi-suitor situational comedy; no Kathleen Turner; a somewhat redeeming scene for Becca after a season’s worth of misery; Hank putting into words why he does the things he does. It was one of the better episodes for reflecting how complex Hank (and the show) really is and mixed together a perfect mix of humor and heart. Hank has explained before that he truly is in awe of women, and tonight he explained to Becca that he gets turned on just as much by making them feel special as he does by them disrobing for him (in more or less words). This all was all book-ended with scenes featuring ride-or-die Karen and despite corny Skype jokes, they were great.

What can a guy who habitually wants to make women feel special do? As we saw last night, it’s an interesting “condition,” especially for an asshole like Hank. Personally, I’ve been in a position before where I’m so stoked on a girl liking me, that I just reciprocate their enthusiasm without any actual romantic feelings. Shit just sucks in the end.
