An 18 year old charged with $7300 dollars worth of graffiti vandalism is receiving an 8 year term in a Texas state prison without parole? Srsly? Let’s reform this misguided youth by sending him away to spend his most impressionable years amidst murderers, crooks, rapists and scums! Corpus Christi makes Texas proud!

The kid needed to be punished but 8 years in state prison is way off. Kid should have been made to pay whatever costs were involved AND be made to re-paint the places including a year of probation. What we’re talking about here is ~$1000 in damages equals one year in prison, or ~$80 in damages equals one month in jail.
This is what you call a Hanging Judge. They’re all about making examples of everyone. Just like eveyrone else, I hope that if this judge has kids or granchildren and they do within the $80 range of damage, they sure as hell better get a month in state prison. No exceptions for the Hanging Judge!

Every prisoner costs about $30,000/year or $240,000 for 8 years. The smart decision would have been to put him under house arrest and let him finish High School. Now he is just going spend 24 hours a day with criminals and learning from them instead. When he gets out he will have an excellent chance at success, because everyone wants to hire 26 year-olds with no high school degrees, no work experience, and criminal records. I hope he gets out early.
It had to be the drugs that really did him in.

So let’s see, uh, 8 x $23,876 = $191,008 – $7300 = $183,708.
That’s 25 times more than the cost of damages!
Someone should throw the book at that judge for bad math, a bad attitude and for costing U.S. citizens tax dollars that could be used, say on art programs for at risk youth so they learn how to channel that creative energy in positive ways.
Got Damn! No wonder y’all is in huge debt. Terrible math skills due to improperly spent tax dollars.

That is unbelievable !!!! That poor kid is only 18 and now he must spend his early adulthood behind bars for some damn graffiti.
I agree with the fact that he should of been punished but 8 years is absolutley insane. The problem is this shit goes on every day and nothing is done about it. If i had my choice i would punch that bitch in the face and lock her up for a little while and see how she feels !!
