Black Sunday
Cypress Hill – Black Sunday (1993)

Vs.

Songs for the Deaf
Queens of the Stone Age – Songs for the Deaf

The Game is simple… if only one could exist which would it be?  What’s more important… personal relevance, cultural significance, or simply being the better album all other things aside? Choice is yours…

    BLACK SUNDAY.

Not only does this album mean way more to me nostalgically, but the artwork is sooooo superior.

Cultural relevance, Black Sunday, no question, continued the Latino movement in hip hop, legitimized Cypress Hill beyond their freshman album release with a 1/2 dozen legit memorable tracks. -2 though for “Hits From The Bong” a low point in the album and that sorry lead in “I Wanna Get High” nothing compared to “Stoned Is The Way Of The Walk” (dope lyrics on that track) from their first album

Songs for the deaf…a solid album no doubt (liked Rated R too) but to me, QOTSO always hyped better than they sounded. Album to Album Black Sunday Still listen to some of the tracks today. QOTSO, not so much.

Though I would have liked to have caught that show at the Bowery with Dave Grohl on Drums. I heard he was a mad man that night and perhaps having seen that show my perceptive would be different…flip flop…Black Sunday!
