The Bloglin’s Best of 2009: My Top 10 eBay Purchases

BEST-OF-2009-BANNER

Anyone that knows me, knows that I buy a lot of crap off of eBay. I have really curbed my spending habits this year, but I was still able to get some pretty cool stuff. I’ve kept the titles as they appeared on eBay for each item and tried to post the actual auction photos from eBay where I could. But ever since eBay has implemented a better photo upload system most of the photos are small and suck.

These are in no particular order, they’re just my favorites over the year.

10) VINTAGE SPOOK MAGIC MONSTER SHOW SKULL MASK ADVERTISING

I paid way too much for this sign, which could also double as a mask, but I had to have it. It’s a pretty cool vintage relic for a spook show. Spooky.

9) VINTAGE MYSTERY FUN HOUSE ORLANDO FL STICKER & BROCHURE

I grew up in Central Florida. Anyone else who grew up there around my age has probably been to Mystery Fun House. I remember going for the first time back in 1985 and being scared out of my mind. This is just one of those sorts of attractions that no words could ever do justice, which sadly closed down many years ago.

When I was digging through a bunch of old floppy discs, I found one that contained a ton of photos that I took while visiting Mystery Fun House. You can check it out on my flickr. This sticker and brochure are gold to me.

8) Vintage Madballs Green Claw Monster- Mad Balls-Mad Ball

I bought a lot of Madballs this year. Mostly bootleg ones. This is one of my favorites of all time! I call this one the Lamour Supreme Bootleg. I actually put in a bid of $150 to ensure I won this beauty. Luckily, it only sold for around $30.

7) Vintage Madballs Hanging Eye! Mad Ball – Madball

Here is yet another pretty amazing bootleg Madballs piece I got. There is a flesh colored skeleton hand pulling an eyeball out of the head’s eye socket. It’s so gross!

6) Vintage 1980′s Clip Toys LOT Alf E.T. Smurfs Garfield

These fall into the category of “Hey! remember those things?!” My friend forwarded me this auction because he knew how much I liked bootleg E.T. items. Good find!

5) Monsters of Galaxy Warrior Beasts He-Man ATROXBEAST MOC

I got way into looking up bootleg and knock-off Masters of the Universe toys this year. I bought this guy packaged from Italy for around $45. However, it was out of the package when I got it. The dude sent it in some shitty paper envelope. He refunded me $10 back because of it. The whole Monsters of the Galaxy set rules. Atrox-Beast is their bootleg version of Beastman.

4) VINTAGE HALLOWEEN MONSTER FANGS LOT HORROR DRACULA ++++

One of my favorite eBay searches is “Vintage Monster”, which is exactly how I found and won this fang set. I don’t need these at all. But they look really cool on my office wall.

3) HORROR BALLS LIKE MAD BALL KO EXTREMELY RARE

YES! I love finding these bootleg Madballs in their original packaging, complete with header cards! I actually ended up winning two of these in this particular auction because the guy took his time shipping them out, and threw in a second one to make up for it.

2) CAST IRON WALL MOUNT CLOWN HEAD BOTTLE OPENER

While up in Connecticut one weekend I visited an antique mall in Stamford. I turned the corner and ran into Nat (A Silent Flute) and his Mom. We walked around this “mall” and talked for about 15 minutes about how random it was that we ran into one another. Then I took him to the case with all the Nazi memorabilia.

The case next to it had these vintage cast iron bottle openers for around $100+. I thought they were pretty cool so I decided to see if I could track down a few for cheaper on eBay. I got this one for about $10. I am not really sure if it is vintage, but I also don’t really care.

1) Vintage Knockoff Madballs Terrible Foot Balz Lot of 2

These are just too sick! Jumbo size football Madball knockoffs, complete with header cards! I actually think this is my favorite eBay purchase of 2009!

- Twerps!

Damn…thos Madballs bootlegs took me back. We used to get them for our dogs to play with. They are pretty tough. We had a couple of the jumbo football madballs and on occasion you would catch one of our dogs carrying in his mouth just right with the teeth facing out which made it look like my dog was wearing fake gag teeth.
    Damn!
RIP Cuddles (my dog when I was 10)
