Store Spotting: Striaght Out of the Dojo, Ski Beatz

Ski Beatz 350 1

Recently 350 Broadway got a very special visit from a legendary figure in Hip Hop. One with over two decades worth of music under his belt. One who’s transcended all the trends and now-a-days making some noise with Dame Dash and company with his involvement with the BlakRoc movement.

Ski Beatz! This rapper and producer extraordinaire has been giving us ear candy since the 80′s, so it’s no wonder why he’s one of our all time favorites. But if your fingers aren’t dusty enough all you gotta do is think back to tracks like Jay-Z’s “Dead Presidents” or Camp-Lo’s “Luchini” for a reminder of his production greatness.

Today, Ski’s been busy putting the finishing touches on his upcoming 24 Hour Karate School album but he took some time to step out of the Dojo and into 350 Broadway.

Like I said we’ve been fans of Ski since way back. For all of you Golden Age Hip-Hop heads lets flashback to 1992 and check out Ski and emcee Suave Love’s flow as Original Flavor on his first video ever in the track “When I Make It”.

Ski’s currently working on music with a full spectrum of artist, spanning all different regions, genres and time periods. This day Ski just happen to be rolling Rugz D. Bewler, with a new artist of the scene who I hear has been making some heat with the help of Ski down in the Dojo. But if you don’t want to take my word for it see for yourself, you can catch some of the magic going down live on the 24 Hour Karate School Ustream page.

Here we have Ski working with a couple of new trouble makers who are all about the downfall of Wack World, Stalley, Tabi Bonney, and 90′s vocalist Nicole Wray on a track “I Got Mine” that is sure to be on the upcoming album.

Tracks like “Taxi” and “24 Hour Karate School” (both featuring Mos Def) along with the slew of dream-team collaborations have us excited for Ski’s album. For these videos and more check out Creativecontrol.tv and If you got a hankering for any of the dope New Eras you see above either click here or make your way down to 350 Broadway before they’re all gone!

[...] Last time Ski was here we were discussing the release of his 24 Karate School album which is overloaded with a variety of Hip-Hop and R&B artists doing their thing over Ski’s beats. Since then just to tease us he’s released the 24 Hour Karate School (Snippets), a mixtape with quick clips of all the featured songs on the album just to wet your appetite until the release of the actual album in late March. To keep up to date with what’s happening with Ski at the Dojo check out the 24 Hour Karate School website. [...]
