Vs.

College-DropoutB

The Game is simple… if only one could exist which would it be?  What’s more important… personal relevance, cultural significance, or simply being the better album all other things aside? Choice is yours…

i’m not a Kanye fan but I am a Clipse fan so i’m going with Lord Willin

  2. Dont Panic! Says:

    What choice?

    Clipse 100%.

  3. MLKshake Says:

    word. lord mothafuckin willin’. yeeeeeee.

  4. B. Taylor Says:

I’m going against the grain on this one. Cultural significance. Kanye, hands down. He inspired an entire movement, music, art, clothing/streetwear, lifestyle, his influence on other artists, album sales – TTW went triple platinum and he broke the mold when it came to the record industry’s instance on marketing rappers who portray the “street image” that was so dominant at the time. He may be a douche but he put his own stamp on the evolution of hip hop music and pop culture and made no apologies about it in the process.

  5. Danny Boy Says:

CLipse is definetly better but college dropout literally changed hip hop. But My tastes are not neccesarily the driving force in pop culture. That being said Dropuout was way more influential. Clipse stayed under the rader somewhat.

  6. Dr. No Says:

    Oh man this is easy.

  7. Matty Says:

    Lord Willin’ but just barely.

  8. dedleg Says:

Yeah, I’m going to say cultural significance trumps here as well. Kanye takes it, like it or not.

  9. 420 Says:

I love Kanye but his favorite album to me is 808′s. Lord Willin was straight fire when it came out and is still dope. Gotta pick Lord Willin. Even though Kanye is way more influential and significant.

  10. lucas Says:

College Dropout! are you kidding me?! college dropout is a classic

  11. Vancouver Notic Says:

players we ain’t the same, i’m into caine and guns…..

Lord Willin’ …. but it’s not as easy of a choice as i first thought it was.

  12. Mike Jones Says:

I like Clipse way more than Kanye, but this match-up easily goes to ‘Ye. College Dropout means more to me than Lord Willin’, and it’s Kanye’s best work (IMO) while Clipse have only gotten better with Hell Hath and Casket Drops.

  13. Mike Jones Says:

@Dr. No: … and your choice is???

  14. big baby campbell Says:

This one is hard for me. I hear all the points that have been made but Lord Willin was one of my last real tangible CDs. That shit got non stop spins in my senior year of high school. Some chick burnt a copy for me and she stuck little mermaid stickers on it. Just cause I was talking about “that crazy Grindin song” at lunch. I went on a road trip to DC/virginia that year and the song Virginia was played way too many times and is now central to MANY inside jokes. Kanye though really motherfucking brought it with this album. I guess I will have to go Kanye because Kardinal Offishall is on one of the Grindin remixes at the end of that cd. That and The Clipse improved a lot since then. (kanye too though…)

    Great matchup !

If you never do the cobra vs crook CIYs you guys should do a Choice is Yours tournament of champions going over all the past democratic victors.

  15. Waka Says:

    dropout

  16. "q" Says:

    hard but! but ye

  17. Randy Says:

what kind of question is this? obviously kanye.

  18. Gene Says:

Ahhhhh idk well im going to go with kanYe since i never had a chance to listen whole lord willin

  19. GlamNation Says:

Ok, I agree that College Dropout did have major cultural significance and did popularize a new sound in hip-hop. BUT, Lord Willin’ created a new standard of gangster rap that was lyrically advanced and held weight in terms of commercial appeal. So in my books. Lord Willin’ takes this one.

  20. dusty Says:

    clipse all day yeuuch

  21. Oh Mars Says:

Erhhmmm…cultural award goes to Dropout. Mars award goes to Lord Willin’.

  22. Rapist Wit Says:

Kanye Wins, Like Mike Jones said Clipse have gotten better. Lord Willin is awesome but the first two Kanye albums are stone cold classics.

  23. MEGABLANK1 Says:

I dont really like either of the two, but I will have to go with Kanye cause I don’t like them other niggaz.

  24. penski Says:

The gay fish takes it for me on cultural significance.

    *n

  25. luker Says:

    Lantern.

  26. luker Says:

    Holy shit. I’m drunk: KANYE

  27. iamdanski Says:

This match-up makes so much sense. I honestly wasn’t paying much attention to either of these guys when they dropped, but they’ve arguably set up the most dominant trends in hip hop today (Kanye’s emo/electro and Clipse’s lyrical coke raps). As much as do love coke rap though, I gotta say Kanye wins here, not only cuz of overall cultural significance, but also cuz of the little jimmy skits. Funniest shit I’ve EVER heard between songs.
