You Should be Listening to… King Dude

King Dude is newest project of Seattle’s T.J. Cowgill who you may (or may not) know from Teen Cthulhu and more recently Book of Black Earth. T.J. also happens to be one Мишка’s closest friends, supporters and the man behind one of our favorite clothing lines, Actual Pain.
With his newest creative outlet King Dude, Cowgill strips down to his voice and acoustic guitar and channels some dark and haunting neo-folk with a heavy focus on knowledge and faith. Luciferian light and spirituality beyond the confides of a strict monotheistic reasoning are just some of the heady topics Cowgill touches upon on his debut cassette, My Beloved Ghost (which you can purchase from Bathetic).
Cowgill himself describes King Dude by saying “My music is the music of the world, of nature, of the devil, of love and destruction. I think it speaks to everyone equally no matter who they are because the light bringer is in us all, awake or waiting to be awakened.” King Dude has a handful of new releases coming out in the near future in the form of a 7″ along with splits with Kim Tesco, Bad Life and Bloglin faves, Blessure Grave.
King Dude will be playing the Free Loving Anarchists showcase during this year’s SXSW. So if you’re heading down to Austin for all of the fun and festivities this March be sure to check them out.
