The Chicago duo know as My Gold Mask play incredibly catchy and moody pop in the vein of Siouxse and the Banshees while adding in almost gypsy sounding rhythms to create a sound that sets them apart from their peers.

If the bands break out track “Violet Eyes” sounds familiar to all my fellow fashion geeks out there it may be because it was used along with another great track “Your Coo Ka Choo” in Phillip Lim’s FW 2010/2011 runway show. Something tells me we are going to be hearing alot about My Gold Mask in the future.

Hussle Club is the latest offering from Prince Terrence who may know as the drummer for Santigold, Spank Rock and HEARTSREVOLUTION or perhaps from one of is many DJ sets in and around NYC. Hussle Club is without a doubt one of my favorite new acts to pop up in quite sometime and are set to have a huge 2010.

In the few short months since Hussle Club was the subject of the first ever You Should be Listening to… the Hussle Club machine has been at full throttle with Terrence adding a backing band, adding a introductory Webster Hall date then heading out to Texas to take on SXSW. Hussle Clubs dark and dancey Post Punk references the grittiness of NYC’s past when the Lower East Side was a haven for Artists,Punks, Junkies and Gangsters not Under Grads and fancy restaurants.

Featuring ex member of Liars and Knife Skills Brooklyn/Chicago trio These Are Powers bend the lines between noise, experimental electro and pop like no others.  Release after release this band becomes more impressive if you like your music loud, noisy and fun as hell well then here is your band.

These Are Powers frontwomen Anna Barie has one of the best voices in the game right now adding a whole new level of depth to the bands music. The recently released Candyman EP shows the band upping the ante on their mastery of noise-driven pop. Check out our review for it on the Bloglin.
