Punk Is Really Dead, R.I.P. Malcolm Mclaren
Of all our idols that have passed this year, this one is the hardest for me to digest. Malcolm Mclaren has left us today at 64 after battling with cancer. Malcolm was responsible for the success and demise of the Sex Pistols (as seen in “The Great Rock ‘N’ Roll Swindle” trailer below), the demise of the New York Dolls, he managed Bow Wow Wow, he had a hand in the evolution of modern electronic/rock music, and probably his most lasting legacy will be creating (and then commercializing) the Punk sound and “look” with the help of then partner Vivienne Westwood and activist/artist Jamie Reid.
