You Should be Listening to… Eve Black/Eve White
For starters the Eve Black/ Eve White’s take there name from a Siouxsie and the Banshees song* which automatically endears them to me from the get go. But this London duo who also happen to be twin sisters who produce a dark synth driven sound that is reminiscent of Suicide’s cold minimalism, ESG’s rudimentary rhythms and a certain pop sensibility not unlike that of the band who inspired their name. Just check “The Hunger” on their Myspace player. These ladies have some big voices and at times things do get very dark and diva like.
If Eve Black and Eve White look a little familiar it’s because they made up two thirds (C-Bird and X-Bird) of London Grave Wavers An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump, who called it quits last year just as they were making some traction in the press. Dee (D-Bird) from the band has gone on to Blue on Blue, while the twins have continued on playing together as the duo of Eve Black/Eve White further exploring what they started before the formation of An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump.
Right now the band has no official releases or release plans for that matter and you’ll have to make due with the three tracks on their Myspace player… but hopefully that will soon change. And like most of Gotheir ilk over in the UK, Eve Black/Eve White, like An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump haven’t made it across to the US for any shows just yet. But they do play rather frequently in their native London. Should you live in the area check out the next show.
*The Siouxsie and the Banshees song is actually titled “Eve White/Eve Black.”

Their sound isn’t all that original, especially their vocals. It sounds like the only reason they got any type of mention was based off their Siouxsie Sioux likeness. Come on MPC!!!
