Choice Is Yours Vol. 77: Funeral vs. If You’re Feeling Sinister

Arcade Fire – Funeral (2004)
Vs.

Belle and Sebastian – If You’re Feeling Sinister (1996)
The Game is simple… if only one could exist which would it be? What’s more important… personal relevance, cultural significance, or simply being the better album all other things aside? Choice is yours…

Belle & Sebastian hands down. I tried & I really cant fuck with any more then 2-3 songs on Funeral. If youre feeling, is solid through & through.

Funeral, no question.

Belle & Sebastian
Win is a toolbag.
all of there albums sound overly mastered!. thus giving it a mono toned effect.
Why do you think they re-did whatever that song was for ‘where the wild things are’.
hmmm!
Belle ftw.

imma going to say the bottom one yo cause it looks more street then the top one.

I wonder which one Prolly likes best? Hmmm

Gonna go with B&S too here, they have staying power where as arcade fire… sure they’re nice to listen to once in a while, but otherwise they’re pretty boring.
May 11th, 2010 at 2:12 pm
if you’re feeling sinister crushes.

B&S no question. Instant classic.
The first 5 songs on Funeral are great, but then I lose interest completely.
May 11th, 2010 at 2:30 pm
gonna go with arcade fire on this one.
b&s is a snooze of a band, if there ever was one…
May 11th, 2010 at 3:22 pm
if i by snooze you mean beautiful and dreamy then I totally agree.
May 11th, 2010 at 3:33 pm
If You’re Feeling Sinister! Not only is this album waaaay better than anything Arcade Fire has and ever will put out, but Belle and Sebastian is also a far more superior band.

Re:”b&s is a snooze of a band,”
there be an insert (arcade fire here) at the begging a.m i r.i.g.h.t?
Arcade fire is for your average 15 year old girl who just discovered themself in there high school bathroom!.
May 11th, 2010 at 3:36 pm
should ^^
May 11th, 2010 at 5:41 pm
belle & sebastian, no question. that album was a big high school fav for me, whereas i pretty much only paid attention to funeral’s singles.

I can get my dance on Funeral. Also, lisps annoy me.

Kind of shocked that this is the liveliest CIY is a while.
I’m Belle and Sebastian ’til I die, but I found Funeral pleasant when it came out… but never really got what made everyone else froth at the mouth over it. I’ll always view Funeral as the album that made Indie Rock MOR.
May 11th, 2010 at 10:34 pm
Actually Indie Rock MOR began with Spoon.
May 11th, 2010 at 10:42 pm
right, Rapist Wit/Zach E/Grady G/Bromar/PainsofBeingPure/Whatever handle is going to be today/tomorrow.
But Arcade Fire is who made it commercially viable. Spoon wasn’t influencing shit besides their small cultish fanbase until after Gimme Fiction.
