So I’m a guy who likes videogames and has a PC and I always lived with DUDES who had Macs.  What a tearfest at the apartment when I wanted to play some computer shit with them.  PCs have always been the ideal way to play videogames on a computer for a variety of reason, with the lack of compatible games being the biggest one.    So if you really wanted to game hard you would be pretty much forced to get a console or a PC.  BUT NOT ANYMORE!

Starting now anybody with an apple computer can download Steam and play some really great games.  For those who don’t know Steam is direct-download Videogame emporium, think iTunes for games.  It is run by Valve, the game developers I call the Pixar of the videogame world.  Valve is responsible for the Half-Life series, Team Fortress 2, Counter-strike Source, Portal, and the Left 4 Dead Games.

So what is so good about this new Steam thing and why should you care?  Well first of all it means you can catch up on some of the best games of the last decade, really, some of them are that amazing.  Also, if you buy a multiplayer game with on Steam you will be able to play with anyone…Mac or PC user.  That is a big fucking deal.  Another great feature is the ability to start a game on the PC and pick up where you left off on Mac later in the day, no need to buy a different copy.

Now not every game on steam is available for Mac users just yet but they are working it out.  Some gems that I recommend right off the bat a Braid, Machinarium, Civ IV, and Portal.  And speaking of Portal, from now until May 24th Portal is FREE!  So turn off Ableton, download Steam, and then get Portal(one of the greatest games ever made) for free.  Then play videogames with me plz.
