Let the Right One In Gets Americanized! (First Trailer)
With the U.S. embroiled in Twilight frenzy, this was bound to happen. I’m going to keep the faith here… Let the Right One In was practically flawless so translating it for an American audience seems like it’s doomed to fail, but you never know? From the trailer it looks like they’re going for a shot by shot remake of the original.
It is directed by the guy who did Cloverfield and well, I really liked that movie. And Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl in Kick Ass) is a pretty good casting choice.

Damn, I want to hate this so bad (love the original), but this looks pretty legit. I heard they’re adding a few a story line or two from the book that were left out in the original movie, which would be awesome as well.

Yeah agreed. I want to so hate this. Have heard same about adding in more from book. The book was one of my fav reads in a looong time! If the movie actually starts out quickly cutting to the murders and the manhunt for Eli’s sub it may have enough time to truly delve into Eli’s past. Although I thought that was a good choice in the original in that leaving some of that up to the viewer made it all the more interesting.

My girlfriend read the book and told me that they left out a lot of the back story. I said that I liked it better not knowing any of that and just the way the movie let itself imply whatever you wanted to think.

I thought the book was like a really good Stephen King novel (not a diss in any way), but the movie truly found the heart of the story and gave it much more meaning–it elevated the story to art. That said, I wouldn’t mind if the American version showed more of the gruesome stuff! Rar!

Why not just watch the original? The American version looks almost the same
