You’ll have to take this with a grain of salt because it’s being credited to an “anonymous sourc,” but there’s an article circulating suggesting that Mike Judge is planning on bringing Beavis & Butt-Head back for a much deserved encore?

The source conceded that plans for actual broadcast are not yet cemented, or even a given, but confirmed that the King of the Hill/Office Space/Idiocracy maestro is definitely in the midst of writing new B and B material with the hopes of a full-throttle return.

Even better news for fans is that, should this come to pass, Judge plans on retaining the show’s original ghetto-tech aesthetic, right down to the faded color palatte. The source also reveals that the Extract director intends on keeping B and B‘s format identical to its original sketch-videos-sketch incarnation, but with more contemporary music clips for the cartoon slacker-duo to skewer.

Again this could all of course be B.S. but I tend to get excited at anything Mike Judge is working on so a return to Beavis & Butt-Head, while I’m keeping my hopes and expectations low, this still brings a smile to my face and a shirt over my head.

The only hiccup I can foresee with this report possibly being false is that I think MTV owns the rights to Beavis & Butt-Head so even if Judge wants to do the show again, MTV has to want to also air or produce it.

If this is true I hope they bring back the whole music video element of the show. My god imagine Chillwave, LCD Soundsystem, Blog House, Animal Collective, my god even Witch House being discussed by Beavis & Butt-Head!??
