Death In June
- But, What Ends When the Symbols Shatter? (1992)

Vs.

The Cure

The Game is simple… if only one could exist which would it be? What’s more important… personal relevance, cultural significance, or simply being the better album all other things aside? Choice is yours…

    DEATH IN JUNE!!!!!

  2. AstralForest Says:

    DEATH IN JUNE!!!!! (2)

  3. AstralForest Says:

I think ‘pornography’ would have been a better contender!.

‘Disintegration’ would be pushing it by far!.

  4. My Pal the Crook Says:

Yeah “Pornography” is the Cure’s darkest and most depressing album but it’s also one most people aren’t all that familiar with.

  5. Cornbluth Says:

Kyoto Song is better than any song on Symbols Shatter, but album to album, DI6 takes this one

  6. GlamNation Says:

Y’all are smoking goth crack, the Death In June record doesn’t even come close!

  7. AstralForest Says:

    “Goth Crack” sounds delicious!

i wouldn’t have maxed neither “But, What Ends When Symbols Shatter?” maybe highly praised but in my opinion his weakest!.

again ‘pornography’ would have been a better contender! regardless of it being unknown to the masses!.

  8. AstralForest Says:

    matched ^6

  9. My Pal the Crook Says:

“But, What Ends When Symbols Shatter?” is DIJ weakest album? O… K…

are you just on an “anything most people like I must not like” kick?

  10. AstralForest Says:

I was on that kick about 6 years ago!

    In response to your question:No!

it’s a variable album (imo) do you like music that is heavily praised? even even though slightly it doesn’t deserve half of it!.

  11. AstralForest Says:

I mean their is hype only junkies out there lots of them who run on blogosphere fuel!.

  12. My Pal the Crook Says:

no this album deserves every ounce of praise… unlike you who discovered it 6 years ago I was listening to since the mid 90s before the DIJ bandwagon. Symbols was a revelation when it came out and still is.

  13. AstralForest Says:

Yeah! but for what it’s worth I’m only 22!.

Mid 90s as a kid for me growing up was between fine young cannibals wu tang & sting little bone thug/snoop!.

  14. AstralForest Says:

that’s quite impressive especially being African/native American living in the inner city (of dc).

nothing to do but trace spot on images of real monsters directly from the television was my outlet! not shoot in the face by some stranger was second. and music obviously!.

  15. AstralForest Says:

    getting ^

  16. Rapist Wit Says:

Thanks to your blog I would always see the Death in June image so i checked them out. Pretty good but The CURE WINS. ALSO MORE DIGGING FOR FIRES.

  17. BigP Says:

On my 9th birthday, my older brother gave me the Head on the Door on vinyl.
I’d been talking about them because I had a crush on my friends’ 17 year older sister and she was all about the Cure and what not. I was all about hating the world.
So there I was, newly 9, rocking the Cure on my dad’s hi-fi and getting emo on that shit and fucking loving it.
It’s one of those moments where you know your hooked for life on something.

  18. Banana Wintour Says:

Hey Dennis if you know where i can get some goth crack please hook your boy up!

  19. Noah Says:

hmmm thats a difficult one. I love head on the door but I also love symbals shatter.

    This might be a tie.

although I will say I’ve put head on the door in many more rotations than cymbals shatter.
