The Game is simple… if only one could exist which would it be? What’s more important… personal relevance, cultural significance, or simply being the better album all other things aside? Choice is yours…

Never was a big solo Neil Young fan, but i swear by NMH.

In the Aeroplane Over The Sea!

  3. AstralForest Says:

“Never was a big solo Neil Young fan” hmmm! o.k

Neil you could put any album up against any of the past contenders still would crush! imo

Neils records helped me get through a lot!.

Neil Young After the Gold Rush…If you don’t like his solo stuff start by watching the dvd of “Rust Never Sleeps” live. It has giant harmonicas, midget goblin roadies, and beautiful songs.

  5. big baby campbell Says:

Neil Young crushes this match up. Neil Young crushes all but pre electric Dylan.

  6. AstralForest Says:

If you don’t like his solo stuff start by watching the dvd of “Rust Never Sleeps” live. actually i wouldn’t recommend anything to a non Neil fan there is no middle man (hes not a mediocre glump) it’s built on preference of that specific individuals taste!.

Neil Young crushes all but pre electric Dylan.

mehh!, never really was a dylan fan pre or contempt.

  7. SORTAHUMAN Says:

Wish I could pick both but since I can’t I will pick NMH – In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, bc Jeff rules and some songs on there mean a lot to me.

  8. black pelican Says:

This is a real good one! That NMH album is so classic, but i gotta go with After The Goldrush. I can never pass up a Neil Young album.

  9. DMack Says:

Those albums are from different generations. It would be interesting if everyone posted their age along with their choice. The “personal relevance” part has a lot to do with the time/place. Even though it’s a classic, I’ll never be able to go back and hear “After The Gold Rush” when it was brand new because I straight up wasn’t alive yet.

    With that said: Aeroplane. haha.

  22. Rapist Wit Says:

Sorry I just think Milk Hotel is just boring. This is not my favorite Neil Young album but it is better that Aeroplane.

  23. BigP Says:

Neil Young. As Rapist Wilt says, not the best Neil Young to be sure but Much better than Impersonal Lactose Inn’s flying machine (actually it is a really good album, no dissin)

  24. ben Says:

    NMH but not by much.

  25. Danny Boy Says:

damn @astral forest seems to have had one too many before he got ahold of this post.

that being said what is he talking about @crook?

Gonna have to go with Neil Young on this one because he was pushing way more boundaries and generally helping shape the singer songwriter genre. the older a band or artist the less influence they have had on there own music so therefore more original. plus neils voice is so perfectly flawed that it alone is better than nmh
