Closer. I prefer the Pixies to Joy Division any day, but that’s on the strength of Come on Pilgrim and Doolittle. I never enjoyed Surfer Rosa, and I’ve always thought Closer was awesome.

painiac brings up a good point: why surfer rosa? it is not the strongest pixies album. that said, closer was probably the more influential and “important” of the two.

I think you’d have a healthy debate between Surfer Rosa and Doolittle. You may not think it’s their strongest album, but plenty of others do consider it as such.
