Sounds From the Other Side: Tash Willmore Post-Rave Hypothermia!
Tash Willmore is someone who evidently likes Witch House but doesn’t necessarily make it. Instead this Swedish based artist creates awesome post-rave soundscapes of jewel like beauty, slow ambient trance worlds and droning down-beat soaring on beams of sunlight from some foreign star.
His Witch House connections start chiefly with his Tumblr which is a veritable hive of Witchian blogging with tones of videos and music by artists working in that genre along with many other bands and artists associated with that sound. As is usually the case with Tumblr blogs there are scant personal posts of his own compositions, Instead it’s mainly videos and imagery that seem to inspire his work. I actually find those seemingly random “inspiration” posts quite annoying when it comes to band’s Tumblr pages, but with Tash Willmore’s you get a real engaging mix of stuff that kept my interest for a good few pages at least.
His second Witchian connection is that he maintains a really good Vimeo Channel, the appropriately named “|-|4X0r” which is entirely devoted to Witch House videos.
Anyway enough of his blogging habits, it’s the music that is the important thing here! And while it is possible to draw some connections between his music and the Witch House genre really, Tash’s work is something entirely different; spaced out electronica to rave out to on the dancefloor come 5am, a soundtrack for loosing yourself to hypothermia lost in the snowy forests of Scandinavia in only a t.shirt, the cold disappearing for those final few minutes before death embraces you.
His Witchian repertoire does stretch to the odd Drag remix but even these seem light and celestial and created with all the production skill needed to keep the music interesting and not just “slowed down.” His is a sound closer to a band like Teengirl Fantasy but without the glitchyness and with a higher sense of the importance of synth and darkness.

Some Haunting Melody by Tash Willmore
All brilliant stuff and all created pretty recently. Tash’s internet presence seems to go back earlier than this year so this is all fresh new music to be lapped up! You can download the track “Andorra” from his Soundcloud and “AmoteOfdust (dragversion)” from his Bandcamp but everything else will cost you a few dollars. Kind of odd for a new artist with such Witchian tendencies, but perhaps all of this points towards a release coming sometime in the near future. I imagine on some small label somewhere, so keep an eye out!
