They Say The Neon Lights Are Bright (With CREEP) On Broadway

Brooklyn-based duo CREEP shuffled down the block a few Fridays ago, and were kind enough to pull the trigger on a performance at our very own flagship locale on Broadway. Things got a little eerie at times, as we dimmed down the lights, cranked up the purple neon’s, and watched the pair get down to business. Although I can’t speak to the method in which CREEP produce their tunes, the sound that’s emitted from their stacks of technology is nothing short of remarkable. Take a look at the videos we were lucky enough to capture at the happening, and I think you’ll notice that the folks in attendance were more than captivated by the evening’s proceedings.

Many of the tunes featured at the performance on the 15th were selections lifted from CREEP’s bundle of singles, but were given a new live energy that probably couldn’t be conveyed when listening to an MP3. The certain “drag” that the gals feature when producing much of their recorded output was carted out in full force throughout the night, and eventually whipped the crowd into a kind of throbbing mass. For those folks that were lucky enough to get into the first-come-first-serve performance, it’s probably safe to say they were satiated when the show was through.

If you hadn’t heard about the show, or just weren’t lucky enough to make it out to the gig, you might want to take a listen to the 28th installment of our Keep Watch mix seriesthat  Lauren Flax and Lauren Dillard dropped on us earlier this Summer. Although the CREEP members only included one of their own tunes on the tape, they filled the thing with a series of deep cuts that flow together in perfect harmony. Мишка favorites Psychic TV get top billing in the running order, as we’re given a taste of some harsh German shit (Einstürzende Neubauten), as well as some bizzare-o neo Hip Hop (Shabazz Palaces), as the mix progresses. I’m pretty sure you’d be remiss to miss jumping on this download while you have the chance.

CREEP has been in cahoots with the Мишка entity for some time now. We can only hope they don’t sever ties, so we keep getting preferential treatment like this! Check out the rest of the in-store performance over on our Vimeo page. All of the video was shot by our own über talented Vidiot, Matthew Caron.
