ASAP Rocky Pounds the Pavement In “Peso”

Harlem’s own ASAP Rocky jumps out the front of a bodega at the outset of his latest video, and never looks back. The burgeoning NYC emcee takes us viewers on a gritty trek through his hood for the duration of this Abteen Bagheri directed clip, as he leads a mob of his cronies through the streets like some murdered-out hip hop pied piper. We here at Мишка have been feeling ASAP for some time now, and ”Peso” delivers on the promise we saw in his previously released Deep Purple mixtape. Be sure to check out the short feature we wrote up on the rapper earlier this year, and get a hold of that Purple tape while you still can.

Also, I must mention how much I appreciate Rocky’s choice in corrective lenses and frames here. This recent trend of rappers adorned in plastic nerd glasses has been bothering me ever since Hov and Yeezy picked up their first pair of Ray Ban’s. There is something aesthetically off putting when viewing an iced-out hip hop mogul who rounds out his look with a pair of chunky black Buddy Holly frames. Rocky smartly goes the E-40/Master P route here, selecting a sensible gold pair of specs that perfectly top off this image he’s cultivated for himself. Just think about it for a moment… gold chain, gold fronts, gold watch, gold rings… gold glasses baby! It only makes perfect sense. Let’s leave the dork frames to interning blog writers, thank you very much.
