Madgibbs Is Coming For You. Be Afraid.
The first time I saw Freddie Gibbs live it was about 2 years ago, he was opening for The Cool Kids, and I had absolutely no idea who he was. Emerging onto the completely dark stage, the only thing you could see of Gibbs was a white hand towel hanging down from the back of his hat. He proceeded to deliver one of the fiercest and most frightening performances I had seen in a hell of aa long time. Basically what I’m trying to say is that Gibbs is a scary ass dude.
In the new video for “Thuggin’”, a song off of his ill collaborative release with Madlib (a partnership that will see a full album this year) just got a video that reaffirms the fact that Gibbs will haunt your shit, especially when he’s outfitted with a massive assault rifle sporting a banana clip that looks like it came from fucking Serious Sam. Sidenote: I once saw a little kid wearing that exact same Scarface coat snatch-n-run like 10 games out of the Gamestop on Broadway. He was, briefly, my hero.
