Lofty305′s 6a6e [Mixtape Premier]

This is the first time I’ve got to premier something on the Bloglin and I’m super excited to put you all on Lofty305′s new tape 6a6e. Lofty305 and his fellow Metro Zu crew are always pushing their artistic boundaries and on this tape Lofty is definitely taking it to new territory. First thing I noticed when he sent it over to me is Gage, the terrifying but at the same time cute kid from Pet Cemetery, on the cover art and on the very first track a sample from the same movie and I was already hooked.

Lofty has some sparse and very awesome vocals throughout the tape, but 6a6e is mainly focused on the instrumentals and these junts definitely have a darker vibe then any of his previous music. Every track has a futuristic yet lysergic feel to it that reminds me of something the great Spider Jerusalem would listen while getting wasted in Transmetropolitan.

I’ve been listening to this tape all week trying to come up with a genre I could compare this to but Lofty himself described it best with the term Cyber Punk, which is a perfect fit to me. Feels like the tape was set in a post industrial dystopia and any hacker trying to fight the man would love to have “6a6e” as their soundtrack. On my favorite track “Melissa”, he pitched his voice up and sings “she got robbed at chuuurch today” is a perfect way to end the tape for sure. I asked Lofty if he had anything to say and told me to tell everyone that he highly recommends watching Pet Cemetery and he’s got hella beat tapes coming, so be on the lookout for an onslaught of awesomeness from him and the whole zu because these boys don’t stop!
