Or so I’ve gleaned from watching this trailer. I mean… right? Sorta? That’s not a bad movie. This is actually Not Fade Away and it’s the first thing that David Chase has done since The Sopranos ended five years ago. To me it seems like a pretty bizarre balancing act of “I’m my own man damnit!” and also “but I also made The Sopranos” attitudes from chase. One the one hand, it’s a period piece about floppy haired kids in a band. On the other hand, he immediately references The Rolling Stones (who hung heavy over The Sopranos).

There’s not a single person you recognize… except James Gandolfini who appears to sound exactly like Tony Soprano. It takes place in Jersey. Very curious here, I’m very interested to see how this is received. I could see him catching a lot of flack for it actually. Expectations are a bitch aren’t they.
