Despite it’s massive success, the Halo series for me still feels like a story of missed opportunities to me. Halo 3 in particular was not the perfect end to a trilogy that it should have been. I suppose we should have known after The Flood that weird things were afoot. Moreso than even the games, it’s always seemed super bizarre that they never brought it home with a Halo movie. I mean really, it seemed so easy. And yet after so many starts and stops it never happened and now I feel like the moment has passed. Will Halo 4 really propel the series back to its previous place atop gaming media’s throne?

The answer is no, it won’t, and I don’t exactly think this awkwardly bulky official Halo web series, Forward Unto Dawn, will do the trick either. I mean it’s not terrible for a web-series with complete unknowns, but it only serves to highlight how absurd it is that there isn’t a $200 million ill as hell Halo flick in my DVD library right now. Who’s fault is this? Peter Jackson’s?
